// BEYOND THE BLUEPRINT // Last night we had an opportunity to attend the @hbraffc annual Beyond the blueprint event. We always look forward to this meeting where expert panelists explore the evolving landscape of architecture and construction. They explored how the building industry will transform in the coming decade, looking at the housing crisis, the future of smart building, and how to design and build homes that will stand strong in the wake of natural disasters like those which made the headline news this year. TECHNOLOGY:
More companies are using AI to record meeting minutes after call which includes a recap and main points of the meeting so pros can be more present during the meeting
Some of the larger engineering firms are using AI to speed up some calculations (repetitive type) now being done in 4 minutes instead of 4 hours
3D Printing - One example of the use of this technology to help clients and trades see the intent and scale of the design and how it should be installed
Using drones for site inspections SUSATAINABILITY:
Special Planning - Retrofitting: More builders are taking commercial space and retrofitting to create residential and/or mixed use space to help with the housing crises. This creates less waste.
Architects and builders are incorporating more environmentally and long-lasting products into their designs like engineered wood products. EFFICIENCY:
Clients are becoming more responsive to home efficiency/Keeping energy costs down by using materials that will minimize environmental impact. Examples of this includes solar panels, green roofs, and insulated form panels. Concerns facing our industry:
